MISSION NEWS

AUGUST 2009

Be in prayer for a WMU director and assistant, also GA and Acteen leaders. These are great opportunities to be part of God’s work. If you have not turned in your current list of active group members, please do so as soon as possible.

WMU Training will be held August 1, 2009 at 10:00 am, Tarboro First. Childcare and lunch will be provided. Open to ANYONE interested in WMU.  Especially good for new workers.

Mark your calendar:    Lay Renewal Weekend  Aug 28-29      OIAM – October 10th

NEW BOOKS – WMU has given mission books to our church library: The Heavenly Man-the true story of Chinese Christian Brother Yun – this is a most inspiring book. Also Living Water by Brother Yun, a must read for every Christian and Rebekah Ann Naylor, MD-missionary doctor to India. These books are really great mission books and I hope you take the opportunity to read them.

Plunge2Poverty, an intensive poverty simulation experience, Aug 21-22, Friday noon-Sat 3 pm, downtown Raleigh. Cost is $25, contact Margaret Harding, wmunc.org.

Lottie Moon offering last year did not meet its goal and the International Mission Board is having to postpone sending missionaries. How terrible that people are willing to go spread the gospel and there are not enough resources for them to be sent. Consider a gift to the Lottie Moon offering as a special project of your group. Please be in prayer for these people. Imagine being willing to go, having been called by God and  weeping for lost souls that you can not witness to because God’s people have not supplied the resources to GO TELL!!! May God have mercy on us.

Be in prayer for missionaries all around the world, the lost, sick, homebound, jobless, stressed, depressed, etc. Keep our nation; it’s leaders and all world leaders in prayer. Remember MBC, staff, committees, direction and workers. Especially remember our youth & leaders/parents as they travel for camps/missions this summer, as well as our search for a preschool/childrens director and preschool teachers.

As this is my last WMU newsletter, I wish to express my thanks to so many over the years willing to go the extra mile for missions. I have enjoyed the last ten years, two as the Assistant Director and eight as the Director. You have worked hard and given generously. It is time for fresh ideas on ways to excite people to join in God’s work. May we each as friends of God, love Him with all our hearts and be willing to share what he has and is continuing to do for us. May He continue to bless us as we grow and walk in His will.
